The Via Ferrata in Puget-Th\u00e9niers reopened in summer 2018, thanks to the commitment of our local guides<\/span> who have done their utmost to rehabilitate it and who are now new managers<\/span>. Located less than an hour from Nice and the Verdon, it is open almost all year round!

Open almost all year round!<\/span><\/h2>\n

The via ferrata at Puget-Th\u00e9niers (Demoiselles du Castagnet), although located close to the Verdon, is practicable. almost all year round<\/span> except for a few days in winter.

<\/span><\/p>\n

An \"old-fashioned\" course with a 460m zip line!<\/span><\/h2>\n

This via ferrata offers a traditional route<\/span> with verticality, <\/span>gas, a Nepalese bridge, a monkey bridge and now 4 zip lines<\/span><\/span> (80, 50, 100 and 460m) to finish. It's not overly physical, but it's tough because there are few rest areas.

Well equipped, with clear signs along the way, it offers two levels<\/span> :
\u2013 Green<\/strong> for a 1h30 experience.
\u2013 Red<\/strong> for a 3-hour adventure.<\/span><\/p> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The \"Demoiselles du Castagnet\" via ferrata in Puget<\/span><\/h2>\n

This elegant, logical route winds its way up a large sloping limestone ridge to the summit of some superb, hitherto inaccessible and little-known needles.\u00a0These particular geological formations were probably named \"demoiselles\" because of their similarity to the slender, capped damselflies found in many Alpine valleys.<\/span><\/p>\n

The word \"Castagnet\" refers to the name of the district, itself derived from the centuries-old chestnut forest on the sandstone slope where the return path winds.<\/p>\n

In the clearing at the end of the via, just behind the summit of the Needles, are the remains of an old farmhouse flanked by a beautiful water cistern, a reminder of how these areas were used for farming before they were reforested at the beginning of the last century.<\/p>\n

The \"demoiselles du Castagnet\" via ferrata was inaugurated by Patrick Berhault, an illustrious mountaineer and climber from Nice who died in 2004.

Recommended period : <\/span>from spring to autumn. Very often, in the shoulder seasons, the route can be climbed in the sunshine at mild temperatures, while the valley floor remains in the shade with a layer of white frost.<\/p>\n

Important to know<\/h2>\n

- Reception only between 8.30am and 11am depending on the season, at the foot of the via ferrata.
\u2013 Advance booking required\u00a0<\/strong>for organising equipment.
- New 100m zip line.
- 460m long zip line, open under supervision.
<\/span>- Full set of via ferrata equipment and suitable gloves (available on site) are compulsory for the zip lines.<\/p>\n

This is private land and a private via, and accessing it without paying the fee is a criminal offence. A gate prohibits access outside opening hours.<\/p> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n

A long history<\/h2>\n

Initiated in the 1990s by the Alpes-Maritimes d\u00e9partement, the via ferrata at Puget-Th\u00e9niers was forced to close in 2014, following the withdrawal of the d\u00e9partement council, which was responsible for its management.<\/span><\/p>\n

After four years of inactivity, our guides (who make up the local Bureau de Guides) have committed to <\/span>in a process of reopening<\/span>. This involved cleaning up, replacing cables, dealing with the authorities, updating information panels, acquiring the necessary equipment and finding suitable insurance. Certification was obtained to validate the work carried out, enabling the via ferrata to be reopened.<\/span><\/p> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Ouverte presque toute l'ann\u00e9e !<\/h2>

La via ferrata de Puget-Th\u00e9niers (Demoiselles du Castagnet), bien que situ\u00e9e \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 du Verdon, est praticable presque toute l'ann\u00e9e except\u00e9 quelques jours en hiver.

Un parcours \"\u00e0 l'ancienne\" avec une tyrolienne de 460m !<\/h2>

Cette via ferrata propose un parcours traditionnel avec verticalit\u00e9, du gaz, un pont n\u00e9palais, un pont de singe et d\u00e9sormais 4 tyroliennes (80, 50, 100 et 460m) pour finir. Elle n'est pas trop physique mais endurante car elle poss\u00e8de peu d\u2019endroits de repos.

Bien \u00e9quip\u00e9e, avec des indications claires le long du parcours, elle offre deux niveaux :
- Vert<\/strong> pour une exp\u00e9rience d'1h30.

- Accueil uniquement entre 8H30 et 11h00 selon la saison, au pied de la via ferrata.

- Nouvelle tyrolienne de 100m.
- Grande tyrolienne de 460m, ouverte sous surveillance.

Une longue histoire<\/h2>

Initi\u00e9e dans les ann\u00e9es 90 par le d\u00e9partement des Alpes-Maritimes, la via ferrata de Puget-Th\u00e9niers a \u00e9t\u00e9 contrainte de fermer ses portes en 2014, suite au retrait du conseil d\u00e9partemental, qui en assurait la gestion.<\/p>

Apr\u00e8s quatre ans d'inactivit\u00e9, nos guides (qui constituent le Bureau de Guides local) se sont engag\u00e9s dans un processus de r\u00e9ouverture. Ce dernier a impliqu\u00e9 des travaux de nettoyage, le remplacement de c\u00e2bles, des d\u00e9marches administratives, la mise \u00e0 jour des panneaux d'information, l'acquisition de mat\u00e9riel n\u00e9cessaire, ainsi que la recherche d'une assurance adapt\u00e9e.
